Here is a summary of what is planned for releases to come, with their priorities:

QuteCom 2.2 - Cobranding, Customisation

Must-have

  • Quality of core components
    • Voice - adaptive ptime, improve codec support, improve audio on Linux
  • Co-branding
    • Allow theming of the interface
    • Create a cobranding pack (make it easier to change logos, translations, sounds, name)
  • Interface
    • Relook chat interface - allow grouping of messages, themability

Should have

  • Interoperability
    • Perfect interoperability with Asterisk & other SIP platforms

QuteCom 3.0 - Quality, Modularity

Must-have

  • Integration of CoIP Manager
    • Publication of plug-in SDK
    • Definition of plug-in entry points (elements of the application controllable from plug-ins)
    • Integration of IAX support from Code Camp
  • Quality of core components
    • Video - integrate support for H261, improve video over H263/H263+
  • Enable centralisation of contact roster
    • Requires server support. Possible options: Jabber, XCAP, use of a third party service for contacts
  • User experience
    • Integration with Outlook address book
    • Record audio calls
    • Re-enable voicemail notification
    • Refresh balance after calls and after SMSes
  • Interoperability
    • Allow a second SIP account to be open at the same time
    • Include support for MSN voice calls

Should have

  • Integration of CoIP Manager
    • Integration of scripting interface from Code Camp
    • Integration of IPv6 support
    • Publication of example plug-ins: File transfer and VNC
  • User experience
    • Integration with other native address books (Thunderbird, Mac Address book)
    • Integrate with audio conference facilities if available
    • Allow password storage and profile storage to be optional for increased privacy
  • Interoperability
    • Include support for Jingle voice calls
    • Create an interoperability matrix with SIP platforms and softphones
  • Quality of core components
    • Video - improved webcam support for Linux
    • Integrate support for Ogg Theora

  • User experience
    • Integration with other native address books (EDS, Kontact)
    • Integration with system keyrings for passwords
